Back to School is No Joking Matter!

 

We all know that along with Back to School time comes lots of anxiety and count-to-ten and breathe moments for teachers, along with their students.  Just to lighten things up a little, the Freebielicious girls wanted to (hopefully) spread a little laughter and fun to our virtual colleagues. 

There is nothing better than a child's perception and presentation of topics in writing.  This child was asked to draw and write about what she wanted to be when she grew up and this is what she did: 

Needless to say, when this writing that depicted her as a stripper was brought home, the mother was mortified and responded with the following note:

Dear Teacher,

I wish to clarify that I am not now, nor have I ever been, an exotic dancer. I work at Home Depot and I told my daughter how hectic it was last week before the blizzard hit. I told her we sold out every single shovel we had, and then I found one more in the back room, and that several people were fighting over who would get it. Her picture doesn't show me dancing around a pole. It's supposed to depict me selling the last snow shovel we had at Home Depot. From now on I will remember to check her homework more thoroughly before she turns it in.

 

                      This still makes me smile and I hope it brought a smile to your face, too!

Show N'Tell

We had a great show n' tell today.  Students brought their Family Project for September.  Students worked on being a good audience, while  learning how to give and receive complements.
Students are learning how to introduce themselves and speak in front of a group. Students shared who helped them complete there project and what mediums were used in their creations.  Students who have not brought their project yet can still do so this coming week.  We look forward to seeing what you and your family came up with! This is why First Class Teacher is still my FAVORITE blog! Check out the new FREEBIE! Check out her other items too.  After spending all afternoon making western rule anchor charts, and a behavior clip chart, I am even greener than before.  The stuff that teachers put out there for free is amazing! Thank you, thank you!  Now, I just need to figure out how to upload what I made so I can share the fruits of my labor with someone.  I would love to help someone shave time off of their back to school preparations.  If anyone knows why one slide out of ten would be blank when saving a power point slideshow to pdf, I would love to know what I am doing wrong.  I know saving it to pdf locks the clip art and such, but where is slide #3? Also, how do I upload it to tpt? Guess I'll click on over there next and see if anyone can help.  Would love some pointers..kbowers@huntingtonisd.com
